Family and Estate of Mary Dwyer sued the Harbor View Healthcare Center on medical negligence (medical malpractice) wrongful death theory claiming that Mrs. Dwyer, who was placed in Defendant's nursing home after injuring her shoulder when she fell at home, was subjected to numerous and pointless medical procedures, including a colostomy, while a patient at Defendant's facility. She lost 20 pounds and developed a massive bedsore as a direct result of being turned only about 10 times during the 282 shifts she was a patient at the nursing home.
