On June 13, 2025, at approximately 4:58 a.m., officers from the Lindenwold Police Department were dispatched to the Pinewood Estates apartment complex on the 500 block of East Gibbsoboro Road in Lindenwold for a report of an assault. Upon arrival, officers located the victim suffering from an injury to the head. He was transported to Cooper University Hospital for treatment.
During the investigation, detectives obtained surveillance video that captured a suspect – later determined to be Velasquez-Orellans – striking the victim in the head with a club-like weapon during a physical altercation. Velasquez-Orellans was taken into custody and charged on June 13, 2025, with second-degree Aggravated Assault, third-degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, and fourth-degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon. The court later
released Velasquez-Orellans with conditions.
