Richard and Kristen Heaney, individually and as the parents of Kelsey Heaney v. Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Dr. Charles K. Dadzie and Meridian Pediatrict Associates

Richard and Kristen Heaney, individually and as the parents of Kelsey Heaney sued Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Dr. Charles K. Dadzie and Meridian Pediatric Associates on medical negligence (medical malpractice) theories claiming that Helsey was given substandard care by the defendants when she was 7-years-old and, as a direct result, he suffered severe brain damage. Plaintiffs claimed that Kelsey was taken off of a respirator too soon and was unable to breath on her own and went into cardiac arrest and suffered brain damage. As a result her memory is severely compromised and despite the fact that she is intelligent, she cannot remember her three digit locker code.



The defenses asserted by the Defendants are not available.

Plaintiff's verdict for $17 million including $5 million for pain and suffering, $2 million for lost future earnings, and $10 million for future medical care.
