Description:
The State of Louisiana charged Nakeith Sparkman, age 27, and Michael Shelby, age 28, with second-degree murder, aggravated burglary and illegal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon in conjunction with the death of a marijuana dealer from whom the defendants were trying to steal the drug. The State's attorney claimed that Sparkman and Shelby went to the apartment of Randard "Deuce" Brown, age 22, with the intent of stealing the large stash of marijuana that Brown kept there. It was claimed that Sparkman was the triggerman and that Shelby acted as an look out.



It was also alleged that Sparkman shot Craig Smith in the hand and the face during the robbery and shooting of Brown.
Outcome:
Sparkman was found guilty and faces a sentence of life in prison. Shelby was found innocent.
