St. Tammany Parish Man Sentenced for Fentanyl Distribution Conspiracy

ALVAREZ JOSEPH CYPRIAN ("CYPRIAN”), age 23, of Madisonville, Louisiana, was sentenced on February 11, 2025 after previously pleading guilty to conspiracy to distribute, and possess with intent to distribute, a quantity of a mixture and substance containing a detectable amount of fentanyl, in violation of Title 21, United States Code, Sections 841(a)(1), 841(b)(1)(C), and 846. CYPRIAN was sentenced to five years probation and a $200 mandatory special assessment fee.



According to court documents, CYPRIAN sold fentanyl pills to an undercover agent on September 8, 2023. CYPRIAN met the undercover agent in Covington and gave the agent 200 fentanyl pills in exchange for $550.



The case was investigated by Homeland Security Investigations and the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Department. Assistant United States Attorney Rachal Cassagne of the Narcotics Unit oversees the prosecution.
