Description:

Medical malpractice claim relating to the stillbirth of plaintiff's baby on June 1, 1999 at the Newton Kansas Medical Center. Alexia E. Yutzy was Dr. Richard Glover's patient. Glover said when Yutzy was taken to the NMC operating room June 1, 1999, to have a Caesarean section, he was unaware the nursing staff and others had difficulty detecting the baby's heartbeat using monitor equipment during the minutes preceding the surgery. The baby was born "blue, limp and showing no signs of movement. Despite the fact that the nursing staff apparently had difficulty detecting appropriate fetal heart tones, an emergency C-section was not performed.

The defendant doctors denied wrongdoing and claimed that their care and treatment of the plaintiff met or exceeded the standard of care.
