A Rock Island man has been sentenced in federal court for illegal possession of a firearm by a felon. On March 20, 2018, U.S. District Judge Sara L. Darrow sentenced Anthony Gardner to 100 months (8 years, 4 months) in federal prison, to be followed by three years of supervised release.



Gardner, 31, had already pled guilty to illegally possessing a Hi-Point 9mm semi-automatic handgun on Oct. 4, 2017. At the time Gardner possessed the gun, he had prior felony convictions in Illinois state court. The gun in question had previously been reported stolen.



The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
