Description:

Susan Landisio sued Kimberly Wilson on a auto negligence theory and Charter Oak Fire Insurance Co. on an under insured motorist theory claiming that she was injured in a car wreck on I-91 near exit 8 in New Haven on September 18, 2007. Plaintiff claimed that Ms. Wilson swered into her lane and hit the driver's side door of her car.

Plaintiff's medicals totaled $46,000.

Defendant Wilson claimed that an unidentified driver cut her off and forced her to move to the right to avoid a collision. She denied fault.

Outcome:

The jury, after a two-day trial concluding July 22, decided that Wilson was not negligent. Nevertheless, it awarded Landisio $1,515,000. Of that, $1,365,000 was for non-economic damages. The policy limits on her own insurance was $300,000.00.
