Carlos Egberto-Jimenez, 28, a citizen of Guatemala, reentered by the United States after being removed in 2019.
Jimenez was arrested in Bridgeport by ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations following his release from state custody.
U.S. Attorney Sullivan stressed that a complaint is only a charge and is not evidence of guilt. Charges are only allegations and a defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
This matter is being investigated by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Enforcement and Removal Operations. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Neeraj N. Patel.
