Corey Wagner (DOB 07/06/1978) was convicted today in Adams County District Court

of first-degree felony murder, second-degree murder and burglary in the shooting death of a

man at a Halloween party in 2006 in Thornton. Wagner also was convicted of second-degree

assault and two counts of menacing.



He will be sentenced at 8:30 Wednesday in Division F.



Wagner shot Anthony Montoya, 26, in the back at the party at 9200 Aspen St., in

Thornton. Wagner had returned to the party with a gun after he and some friends were forced

to leave because of an altercation.



Wagner was initially convicted of the charges in 2008. The conviction was reversed on

appeal because of an error in a jury instruction.
