Tort of Outrage - Personal Injury - Vicarious Liability - The plaintiffs filed suit against the school district where their son attended claiming tort of outrage and negligence of school, superintendent and others. The plaintiff sought to recover for damages resulting from personal injuries that their son received in his high school vocational - agriculture shop, on September 30, 1998. The son amputated the fingers on his right hand when he attempted to operate a table saw. The plaintiffs sought action against, Hal Gibson, the teacher for removing the safety guard from the saw's blade. The plaintiffs stated that he was acting under the scope of his employment, which then involved the school district.
