The State of Illinois charged Bernard Williams, 25, with first-degree murder and armed robbery for shooting and killing off-duty police office David Blake, who was setting in his SUV on the south side of Chicago. The State claimed that Williams killed Blake as part of a scheme to steal Blake's gun collection. Blake was killed on November 22, 2010.<br>

The defense claimed that there was no physical evidence tying Williams to the crime.<br>

The State called witnesses who testified that Williams bragged about killing Blake and who claimed that Williams confessed to the crime.
