Description:

Defamation - Plaintiff claimed that his reputation and consulting business, Foster Steam Turbine Consultants, ltd.., were damaged when he was banned from General Electrics property. Plaintiff claimed that company officials criticized him in memos and to his clients. Plaintiff formed his company when he was laid off in May, 1995 but he was cutoff from the company when the company officials accused him of taking confidential information when he was laid off in 1995. Plaintiff claimed the real reason for GE's action was in retaliation for insistence by him that changes be made in a turbine engine he was inspection for a client.

Outcome:

Defendants' motion for summary judgment overruled. Case scheduled for trial on the first week of January.
