Description:

Patent infringement claim by On Demand Machine Corporation against LaVergne-based Lightning Source, parent company Ingram Books of Nashville and amazon.com relating to alleged infringement of a patent held by On Demand Machine for the printing, binding and covering of books within minutes of a consumer's order being placed. he offense was the violation of a patent for the printing of a book on demand pursuant to a particular method. The method does not require the immediate printing of the book in response to the customer's (not consumer's) selection.

The defendants claimed the On Demand Machine's patent was invalid.

Outcome:
Plaintiff's verdict for $15 million.
