Description:
Davenport, Iowa, criminal defense lawyer represented the Defendant charged with making a false statement during the purchasing of a firearm and possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance.

Lashawn Leroy Williams, Jr., 24, purchased at least 21 firearms between September 2022 through December 2024 and falsely claimed he was not a drug user and provided a false address. Seven of the guns Williams purchased have been recovered by law enforcement, including during drug and homicide investigations. In March 2025, Williams was arrested with a distribution quantity of cocaine and a firearm with an extended magazine that he carried for protection.

After completing his term of imprisonment, Williams will be required to serve a three-year term of supervised release. There is no parole in the federal system.

United States Attorney David C. Waterman of the Southern District of Iowa made the announcement. This case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF).

Defendant was sentenced to the custody of the BOP for a term of 84 months, consisting of 24 months on each of Counts 4, 15, 17, 21, and 22 to be served concurrently, and 60 months on Count 23, to be served consecutively to all other counts. Upon release, Defendant shall serve a supervised release term of 3 years as to each of Counts 4, 15, 17, 21, 22, and 23, to be served concurrently. $600 Special Assessment to the Crime Victims' Fund Assessment.
