Increased Penalties: In cases involving a financial institution or a declared emergency, the penalties can increase to a fine of up to $1 million and/or imprisonment for up to 30 years.
Examples of Wire Fraud:

Work-at-home schemes that make false promises.

Note: It is not necessary for the fraudulent statement to be made directly through the wire communication. The use of the wire communication must be in furtherance of the scheme to defraud.
