Additional Information: A Topeka, Kansas native, Mr. Shuart relocated to Chicago for law school after graduating from the University of Kansas with a Bachelor of Arts in English in 2004. Upon graduating from K.U., Mr. Shuart was awarded the “Campanile Award” for Outstanding Member of the Senior Class, as voted upon by his peers.

While in law school at The John Marshall Law School in Chicago, Mr. Shuart realized quickly that he wanted to focus his practice in the litigation arena, and worked to develop the necessary skills and experience to do so. He clerked for a solo practitioner specializing in personal injury litigation, served as the Captain of two mock trial teams that competed in competitions across the country, earned an “A+” in both Trial Advocacy and Advanced Trial Advocacy (the only student in both classes to do so), and traveled to Ireland between his second and third years to study trial advocacy with Irish barristers. He also served on the Editorial Board of the John Marshall Journal of Computer & Information Law.

After graduating from law school and passing the Illinois bar, Mr. Shuart practiced in the areas of insurance defense, medical malpractice defense, and motor carrier defense for two years in Chicago before moving back to Kansas and joining Hutton & Hutton.

At Hutton & Hutton, Mr. Shuart utilizes his past experience as a defense attorney in representing plaintiffs in cases arising out of motor vehicle accidents, medical malpractice, and dangerous drugs (mass torts). Since joining the firm in the Fall of 2009, Mr. Shuart has successfully resolved over 100 cases for his clients, several of which were in the six- or seven-figure dollar range. Having passed bar examinations in Illinois, Kansas, Florida and New Jersey, Mr. Shuart maintains a nationwide practice – actively filing “mass tort” cases and pursuing appeals in jurisdictions such as Atlantic County, New Jersey and Cook County, Illinois. Mr. Shuart has briefed appeals in the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the 3rd and 10th Circuits, and recently argued his first case in the 10th Circuit. He has also tried wrongful death cases in both a “solo” and “second-chair” capacity.

Mr. Shuart has been named to Missouri & Kansas “Super Lawyers – Rising Stars” in 2011 and 2012, and in 2012 was also named to the National Trial Lawyers “Top 40 Under 40” list for the State of Kansas. He has lectured on various topics at Continuing Legal Education seminars, and has published numerous legal articles in Kansas and Illinois.

Mr. Shuart resides in Wichita with his wife, Christina, and their two young daughters.
