Additional Information: Brody practices primarily in the areas of litigation and insolvency. He has been involved in complex litigation, federal bankruptcy and state insolvency proceedings since he joined Kegler Brown in 1979.

Litigation and Mediation
John has handled complex commercial cases for 30 years, often when the specter of insolvency looms for one or more of the litigants. John was lead counsel for a client recovering a verdict of several million dollars in a commercial case and spent more than a decade litigating oil and gas disputes. He is also trained as a mediator.

Creditors' Rights and Bankruptcy
John has experienced the full spectrum of liquidation and reorganization in federal bankruptcy courts, with a focus on litigation of critical issues, such as bankruptcy court jurisdiction over parties to a contract with a foreign choice of law provision and termination of commercial leases. When limited assets are at risk, quick and effective action is what counts in recovering money. John and his colleagues embrace the approach of creating a blend of practical considerations and strategies that work best with recalcitrant debtors.

Insurance Insolvency
When former attorney general William J. Brown joined the firm, John began working for the Ohio Superintendent of Insurance, acting in the capacity as liquidator of insolvent insurance companies. Beginning in 1986, John has been involved in a host of insurance, reinsurance and related litigation matters, taking him to the Ohio Supreme Court on several occasions. He has argued successfully in the Ohio appellate courts for the Liquidator on various issues, including arbitration under reinsurance agreements, avoidance actions and claims priority.
