Steve concentrates his practice in both the transactional and litigation aspects of real estate and corporate law. He has participated in significant litigation involving ownership and riparian rights of waterfront properties and played a role in major commercial and residential real estate developments in Kosciusko and surrounding counties. He has worked with local and regional developers from the planning and zoning standpoint and in regard to choice of entities for use as development vehicles.
Having spent 35 years in the Indiana lakes area, he has had frequent opportunities to prosecute applications with the Indiana Department of Natural Resources, the Indiana Department of Environmental Management and the Army Corps of Engineers. As waterfront development and use has intensified, he has prosecuted and defended numerous riparian disputes before the Natural Resources Commission.
In addition to real estate and corporate matters, Steve’s practice has included significant experience in personal injury, wrongful death and property damage matters in state and federal courts. As city attorney in Warsaw, Indiana from 1990 to 1998, he became familiar with all aspects of municipal law and continues to call on that experience in the representation of clients with municipal issues.
Steve is admitted to practice before the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals, U. S. District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana and all Indiana state courts. He maintains an AV rating in Martindale-Hubbell, a national directory of attorneys.
In 1969, Steve received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Valparaiso University and received his Doctor of Jurisprudence in 1971 from the Valparaiso University School of Law.
