Mr. Echols obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish, with an emphasis on linguistics, in December 1999 and his Juris Doctor degree in 2003 from Brigham Young University. Mr. Echols was admitted to the Nevada State Bar and the United States District Court for the District of Nevada in 2003. Mr. Echols is also admitted to the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and the Supreme Court of the United States. During law school, Mr. Echols was a member of the BYU Law Review. Mr. Echols frequently publishes articles on appeal topics that have appeared in Nevada Lawyer, a publication of the Nevada State Bar; Communiqué, a publication of the Clark County Bar Association; and Advocate, a publication of the Nevada Justice Association. When Mr. Echols is not busy working on briefs for some sort of appeal proceeding, he can be found preparing for oral argument before an appellate tribunal. Prior to joining Marquis & Aurbach, Mr. Echols was the law clerk to the Honorable Sally A. Loehrer, Eighth Judicial District Court, Department 15. Mr. Echols is a native of Alaska but has also lived in Iowa and Utah. When time permits, Mr. Echols enjoys watching or attending Major League Baseball games with his wife, Penni.
