Minnesota Life Insurance Company ; Jeffrey Frazier v. Eagle Air Med Corporation and Valley Med Flight, Inc.
I graduated from the University of Arizona College of Business Administration in 1971 and the University of Arizona College of Law in 1977. I was admitted to the Wyoming bar in 1978, the Arizona and Nevada bars in 1986, and the Utah bar in 2003. Over the years, I have handled cases in many other states, as well, and in several United States Courts of Appeals across the country. I have been involved in civil litigation—mostly catastrophic personal injury and wrongful death cases—during all of my years in practice. In recent years, I have become interested and gained experience in litigating business disputes, including trademark and copyright infringement and cases involving misappropriation and misuse of trade secrets. Many of these cases have resulted in multi-million dollar settlements or verdicts, but I have never believed that the success of a representation, or the quality of legal work, should always be measured in dollars and cents. Perhaps the most interesting and challenging part of my career was between 1989 and 1993 when I represented the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) in a very difficult dispute involving its men’s basketball program, the NCAA, and later, its men’s basketball coach. I have always tried to guide my practice by the rule that every case is the most important case to the person whose life and interests are involved. I believe in the role of the lawyer as a trusted advisor to people and families whose life experiences have led them into contact with the legal system, which can often be a confusing and uncertain place. I believe that, when all is said and done, legal problems are simply human problems that deserve careful and thoughtful solutions - whether the cases involve personal injuries, commercial disputes, or other violations of basic human rights.
