Mr. Paul is also the Union attorney liaison for all 30 of the Pipe Fitters Local Unions in California, including Steamfitters, Plumbers, Welders, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, as well as Bricklayers local 4, Boilermakers lodge 549, and Boilermaker lodge 92. In addition, Mr. Paul represents injured workers in several industry segments, including Ironworkers, Plasterers, Carpenters, Electricians and Insulators, as well as World War II and Korean War Veterans from the Army, Navy, Merchant Marines and U.S. Air Force. Mr. Paul is also the founding board member of the Mesothelioma Research Foundation of America. In 1985, Mr. Paul sold his Equitable Life Insurance brokerage firm to devote his career to law, representing the seriously injured who are suffering from work-related diseases. As more citizens were affected by occupational- and environmental-toxin-related diseases, Mr. Paul invited Dean Hanley to partner and form Paul and Hanley. Today, the firm employs over twenty attorneys and 150 staff members to defend the rights of workers who have been injured on the job at Oil Refineries, Power Plants, Shipyards, Industrial Plants, Construction Sites as well as Commercial and Residential Buildings. In fact, the firm is very successful in obtaining early preferential trial dates for their mesothelioma and lung cancer clients, often within 120 days of the complaint filing and defendant response. Finally, Mr. Paul aggressively advocates for his clients by assisting them in receiving the right medical treatment through the Mesothelioma Research Foundation of America. The Mesothelioma Research Foundation of America supports the only mesothelioma research facility for USC/ Norris Medical Center. The focus of this research is the Veglin clinical trial initiative led by Dr. Parkash Gill, a board-certified oncologist and hematologist. Mr. Paul's firm has produced some of the most notable verdicts and highest settlements in the United States, securing financial compensation for wage losses and uncovered medical bill expenses, as well as pension and retirement benefit losses. One important legally significant verdict was won in a particular asbestos disease related case led by Mr. Paul, whereby the jury found an asbestos product to be defective under the Consumer Expectation Test. This was a theory of liability that has now become a standard in asbestos litigation. Mr. Paul also acts as a lead consumer advocate in the areas of law and medicine, including: 1) lobbying efforts to prepare clients for U.S. State Judiciary Committee Testimony, 2) Financial grant support for Dr. Gill and the USC Keck School of Medicine mesothelioma clinical research projects, and 3) Financial Supporter for the Mesothelioma Research Foundation of America. Jerry N. Paul was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. While continuing his education through law school, Mr. Paul became the sole proprietor of his own insurance brokerage business. In 1979, Mr. Paul received his degree in law from the San Fernando Valley College of Law.
