Additional Information: Charles W. Kramer is a Senior Appellate and Motion Counsel at Weiss Law Office, S.C. The bulk of his practice is in subrogation. The rest of his practice is in appellate matters, insurance defense and coverage work. He routinely represents insurance carriers in their efforts to secure recovery from tortfeasors whose actions caused the need for indemnity payments. In the appellate courts, he has drafted or been instrumental in drafting Weiss Law Office, S.C.’s briefs and appellate arguments since he joined the firm in 2005. As a result of his cases, Wisconsin courts have clarified the duty to preserve evidence and upheld a workers compensation insurer’s ability to move to a circuit court to settle a third-party action over the objection of the employee. Other appellate cases have addressed such varied issues as the standard for negligence in worker distraction cases, the scope of Wisconsin’s Direct Action Statute and the scope of court review of appraisal decisions. Mr. Kramer has argued before the Wisconsin Supreme Court and has been invited to teach a number of CLE seminars on insurance-related issues.
