Additional Information: Richard graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 2000 with a Bachelor’s degree majoring in Finance, while holding full time jobs. Richard immediately went to work with one of the biggest mutual fund companies as a stock broker. Richard was lured from the glamorous high finance world to the noble profession of the law. As a second and third year law student, Richard worked tirelessly for low income individuals at the Texas Tech Family Law and Low Income tax Clinics.

Upon graduation from Texas Tech, Richard began his legal career in Wichita Falls where he spent 6 years as a prosecutor. During that time, Richard gained experience in all aspects in criminal law. Richard prosecuted all levels of felony and misdemeanor cases. He was a tireless advocate for the victim and was also fair to the citizen accused.

During his time in Wichita Falls, Richard also devoted himself to pro bono services to the poor, where he developed an even deeper passion for representing all clients who need legal assistance to the best of his ability. This dedication led to an invitation to become a board member of the Legal Aid of NorthWest Texas. As a board member, Richard works to provide support for skilled lawyers that provide high quality legal service to qualified individuals.

In 2012, Richard brought his expertise to the Weatherford area, opening Mitchell Law to provide criminal defense, family law and other high quality legal services to individuals and businesses alike.

Richard has continued to litigate countless felonies and misdemeanors ranging from murder, sexual assault to thefts and DWIs. Richard also has an active practice in the domestic relations field, trying child custody, Child Protective Services and divorce cases.
