Ms. Ducheneaux’s Indian Law practice has provided her with experience in the areas of tribal economic development, gaming, corporate law, construction law, tribal housing, and litigation. She has assisted in defending and prosecuting suits in state, federal, and tribal courts, as well as consumer arbitrations. She has also assisted in creating tribal corporations, advising tribal governments, in addition to drafting and amending tribal codes and Constitutions. Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Ducheneaux worked as a staff attorney for the Montana Office of the State Public Defender on the Flathead Indian Reservation where she defended primarily Native clients in major felony cases and represented parents in abuse and neglect proceedings under the Indian Child Welfare Act. Before her position with the Public Defender’s Office, Ms. Ducheneaux completed a one-year clerkship with Justice Brian Morris of the Montana Supreme Court. During law school, Ms. Ducheneaux was a legal intern for the executive branch of the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes where she researched tax issues and audited tribal corporations for commercial code compliance. During law school, Ms. Ducheneaux also served as a legal intern for Decker & Desjarlais, PLLC, a Montana firm specializing in Indian law and gaming.
