Prior to obtaining his law degree from the University of Montana, Mr. Tolliver graduated with honors from the University of Washington with a degree in economics. After law school, he worked as a prosecutor in Missoula before joining Sandal, Moses and Cavan. Subsequently Mr. Tolliver joined Charles (“Timer”) Moses in forming Moses, Kampfe and Tolliver, and later he joined Ralph Wright and Joel Guthals in forming Wright, Tolliver and Guthals, where he practiced until 2002. In 2002, he formed Tolliver Law Firm in Billings, MT.


As a former member of the Montana Board of Aeronautics, and a licensed pilot, Mr. Tolliver practices broadly in aviation matters and aircraft accident matters.


Mr. Tolliver has been active in products liability, medical malpractice, and general tort law, both prosecuting and defending cases with multi-million dollar claims at stake.


He devotes a significant amount of his practice to commercial law. Mr. Tolliver routinely handles seven and eight-figure transactions regarding real estate, banking and finance, the sale/purchase/formation of businesses, and multi-country licensing and exploitation of intellectual property. Mr. Tolliver’s practice experience also includes restructuring and workouts involving substantial business interests.


Mr. Tolliver takes an active role in designing the approach Tolliver Law Firm adopts in representing its clients in both litigation and commercial law matters. Generally, his direct personal practice is restricted to representing his existing clients, in order to allow him to assist broadly in formulating approaches to meet the needs of the firm’s new clients. He does accept new assignments involving international transactions for US based clients, significant financings, real estate, and enterprise transactions.
