ustin Florence is counsel in Ropes & Gray’s business & securities litigation practice group. Justin focuses his practice on appellate and Supreme Court matters, as well as advising clients on complex interagency regulatory matters and federal and state government investigations. He has represented clients in the Supreme Court and federal courts of appeals, as well as at the trial level, in commercial and class action litigation, criminal law and white collar defense, securities law, constitutional law, intellectual property, ERISA litigation, and international law.

Prior to joining the firm, Justin served as Special Assistant and Associate Counsel to President Obama, where he advised the President and senior White House staff on a wide range of complex issues affecting the federal government, including the Departments of Justice, Homeland Security, Treasury, and Interior, among others. He represented the White House in congressional investigations, and advised senior administration officials on risk management, compliance and litigation involving Executive Branch agencies. Justin also previously served on the staff of the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee as Senior Counsel to Senator Sheldon Whitehouse, where he advised the Senator on a wide range of issues including law enforcement and criminal justice policies, medical drug and device law, cybersecurity, national security law, and antitrust.
