Gary L. Straw is a skilled criminal defense attorney who has returned to his hometown to defend the rights of his clients in Lynchburg and the surrounding central Virginia area. Before merging his private practice with the law firm of Jason G. Shoemaker, Mr. Straw worked as a prosecuting attorney for the city of Harrisonburg, where he handled cases involving DUI, domestic violence, drug crimes, juvenile crimes and other criminal offenses. Gary Straw also professed undergraduate courses in Constitutional Law at his alma mater, James Madison University, where he lectured on the basics of criminal procedure and other constitutional issues, in the same building, Maury Hall, where he received his own Bachelor of Science degree 7 years prior. Outside of the practice of law, Gary enjoys spending time with his wife, Nicole, and their boxer puppy, Reyna. Gary is also a die hard Washington Redskins fan, and enjoys running, golfing, and is an avid supporter of his own high school alma mater athletics department at Brookville High School.
