Additional Information: James W. (“Trey”) Pauley is an associate in the Vorys Columbus office and a member of the labor and employment group. He represents clients in a wide variety of labor and employment matters, and has experience litigating discrimination, retaliation, wrongful discharge, wage and hour, covenants not to compete, and contractual claims. He has also handled claims filed under the Fair Labor Standards Act, Title VII, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, and the Family and Medical Leave Act. He regularly defends clients in both state and federal courts, as well as before administrative agencies such as the EEOC and the OCRC (among other state agencies).

Trey has lectured on topics relating to religious discrimination, development of personnel policies and practices, and general compliance with employment laws. Trey is a contributor to the blog Vorys on Labor, which focuses on traditional labor issues of interest to labor professionals in both the public and private sector. He recently wrote a post for the blog about a federal appeals court decision that found RNs possessed adequate disciplinary authority to qualify as supervisors under the NLRA.

Trey is a member of the Ohio and Columbus Bar Associations.

Trey received his J.D. magna cum laude from the University of Toledo College of Law, where he was the assistant executive editor of the University of Toledo law Review and a member of the Order of the Coif. He received his B.A. cum laude from Wilmington College.

Prior to joining Vorys, Trey was an associate in the Dayton office of Faruki Ireland & Cox PLL, a complex commercial litigation law firm.
