She graduated from the University of ND in 2006 with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice Studies, magna cum laude, and received a juris doctor from William Mitchell College of Law in 2009. She is currently licensed to practice in the state and federal courts of ND, and state courts of Minnesota. She is also a qualified neutral for family law mediation. Sophie practices in general civil litigation and criminal defense. During law school, Sophie was a certified student attorney with the Public Defender's Office in the First Judicial District of Minnesota and clerked with Bormann & Myerchin, LLP in the summer of 2008. Sophie was also a judicial extern to the Honorable Teresa R. Warner in Ramsey County, Minnesota and volunteered as a law clerk with the Office of Ombudsperson for Asian-Pacific Families. Sophie is a member of the State Bar Association of ND, the Big Muddy Bar Association, the ND Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and the ND Association for Justice. Sophie is a native of Bismarck and enjoys being back in her hometown. In her spare time, Sophie likes to spend time with her husband David, their children, Sullivan and Savannah, friends and family. She also enjoys reading, traveling, and taking in the occasional blockbuster.
