He has served as Legal Counsel to the Greater Tulsa Association of Realtors (GTAR) for more than three decades, and has participated in hundreds of professional standards (ethics) and arbitration hearings. He has been a member of the Tulsa County Bar and has served as a Delegate to the Oklahoma Bar Association on several occasions and as Tulsa County Law Library Trustee. He is a member of the Owner's Council of America, a group of eminent domain lawyers' limited to one attorney per state. Mr. Nichols is also a member of the Oklahoma Bar Real Estate Section, the Oklahoma Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, the Oklahoma Trial Lawyers Association, and the American Bar Association. In 2002, Mr. Nichols was appointed by the Oklahoma Bar Association to serve on the Oklahoma Real Estate Commission's Standing Committee, created by the legislation to draft and promulgate state-wide real estate contracts and other real estate forms.
Mr. Nichols' efforts have resulted in the largest jury verdicts in the State of Oklahoma history being awarded to his landowner eminent domain clients.
