Gregory D. Saputelli is Co-Managing Partner of the Cherry Hill, NJ office of Obermayer Rebmann Maxwell & Hippel LLP. He is also a member of the firm’s Litigation Department.
Mr. Saputelli specializes in complex civil litigation, representing private businesses and corporations, as well as individuals and governmental entities, in both commercial and tort cases. Some of the many cases he has handled for clients, either as plaintiffs or defendants, include breach of contract disputes, personal injury and professional negligence cases; employment law, intellectual property and construction claims cases. He also represents businesses and individuals whose properties have been targeted for redevelopment and/or eminent domain. Earlier this year, he obtained $5,575,000 for a New Jersey chemical company whose property had been condemned, and who had to relocate its business to another state, after the condemning municipality had only offered it $1,680,000.
Mr. Saputelli also represents real estate builders and developers before zoning and planning boards and other governmental agencies, and represents clients in arbitration proceedings and before appellate courts, including argument of cases before both the New Jersey Supreme Court and the United States Court of Appeals.
Mr. Saputelli received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Russian Language and Literature from the University of Pennsylvania, and studied thereafter at Moscow State University under a governmental exchange program. He obtained his Juris Doctor from the Dickinson School of Law, of the Pennsylvania State University, where he was simultaneously a member of the faculty of Dickinson College, teaching the Russian language. From 1970 to 1972 he served as both Special Assistant to New Jersey Governor William T. Cahill and as a New Jersey Deputy Attorney General assigned to the Governor’s Office.
Mr. Saputelli joined Obermayer in 1983, having previously been president of Gregory D. Saputelli & Associates, P. A., and a partner with Saputelli & Saputelli. In 1987 he was certified by the New Jersey Supreme Court as a "Civil Trial Attorney," and has been continuously recertified every 7 years. He is a member of the Litigation Sections of the New Jersey Bar Association, the Pennsylvania Bar Association and the American Bar Association. He is also a member of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America.
Mr. Saputelli has been consistently named as one of New Jersey’s “Super Lawyers†in both the New Jersey Super Lawyers magazine and New Jersey Monthly (2005 through 2009 editions) and is named in the Super Lawyers, Corporate Counsel Edition highlighting Business Litigation attorneys nationally (April 2008 and April 2009). He is also featured as one of Southern New Jersey lawyers at the “top of their game†in the areas of Commercial, Trial Practice and Eminent Domain law in “SJ’s Top Attorneys In Your Corner†(SJ Magazine, August 2006).
In September 1990, Mr. Saputelli served as an American Delegate to the Moscow Conference on Law and Economic Bilateral Relations, held in the Kremlin Palace, where he participated in workshops and meetings with Russian attorneys and government leaders from both Russia and the United States. Since then, Mr. Saputelli has traveled to Russia, as well as to the Central Asian countries of Kazakstan and Kirghystan, in connection with business matters.
He is admitted to practice law in both New Jersey and Pennsylvania, as well as before the United States District Courts for both the District of New Jersey and the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court.
