Description: San Francisco, CA: Civil rights lawyers represented Plaintiff, who sued Defendants on job discrmination (race) theories.

Plaintiff claimed that he endured racist abuse working for Tesla. He was hired as a contract worker for Tesla through CitiStaff Solutions, Inc. Testimony during trail showed that colleagues used epithets to denigrate him and other Black workers, told him to “go back to Africa” and left racist graffiti in the restrooms and a racist drawing in his workspace.

This case was filed in the Alameda County Superior Court, RG17878854 and was removed to federal court.

Plaintiff was not obligated to arbitrate his claim because he never entered into an arbitration agreement.


Outcome: The jury awarded more than attorneys asked for their client, including $130 million in punitive damages and $6.9 million for emotional distress.
