Description: Hammond, IN: Criminal defense lawyer represented Defendant charged with possessing with intent to distribute cocaine and possessing a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.


Between May and December 2019 in Hammond, Indiana, Salvado Alvin, age 26, sold multiple ounces of cocaine and three firearms to a confidential informant. Law enforcement then executed a search warrant on Alvin’s Hammond residence in December 2019 and recovered approximately five ounces of cocaine which Alvin intended to distribute and a firearm that Alvin possessed in furtherance of his drug trafficking offense. Alvin has a prior felony conviction for criminal recklessness.

This case is the result of the investigative efforts of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives and the Hammond Police Department. This case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Caitlin M. Padula.
