On November 10, 2020, Pima County Sheriff’s deputies stopped a vehicle driven by David Wayne Radde, age 60, of Tucson, for multiple traffic violations. A drug detection canine was called to the scene and alerted to the presence of drugs inside the vehicle. Sheriff’s deputies then searched the vehicle and found 2.68 kilograms of methamphetamine inside the passenger area of the vehicle. Due to the large quantity of methamphetamine, Drug Enforcement Administration agents were called to the scene. Inside the trunk, agents found a loaded Taurus 9 mm firearm and $14,695 in cash. A criminal records check revealed that Radde had multiple prior felony convictions, which prohibited him from possessing firearms.
The Drug Enforcement Administration conducted the investigation in this case with the assistance of the Pima County Sheriff’s Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Serra M. Tsethlikai, District of Arizona, Tucson, handled the prosecution.
