Description: Cleveland, Ohio criminal defense lawyer reported Defendant charged with conspiracy to commit arson related to the destruction of a parking booth during the May 30, 2020, demonstrations and civil unrest in downtown Cleveland.
On May 30, 2020, Seth Calig, 51, and other co-conspirators set fire to the Shaia & PPR parking booth on West 3rd Street. Court documents state that during demonstrations and civil unrest in downtown Cleveland, Calig and others gathered around the parking booth, ignited a roll of paper towels and cardboard with a lighter, and placed it inside the booth. As a result of their actions, court documents state that Calig and the others caused significant physical damage to the parking booth.
In addition to the prison sentence, Judge Nugent ordered Calig to pay $220 dollars in restitution and recommended he undergo 500 hours of a residential drug abuse program.
This case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the Cleveland Division of Police. This case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Kelly L. Galvin.
