Description: Mobile, Alabama criminal law lawyer represented Defendant charged with distributing drugs.

Daniel Martin Bridge, age 39, was the passenger in a vehicle stopped by Mobile County sheriff’s deputies for a traffic violation. During the investigation for the traffic violation, a sheriff’s office drug detecting dog alerted on the vehicle. Deputies searched it and found approximately 45 grams of methamphetamine in the cupholder. Bridge told the deputies that anything they found in the car was his, and the driver had nothing to do with it. He told the deputies the substance was “ice.”

United States District Court Judge Kristi K. Dubose sentenced Bridge to 60 months imprisonment, to be followed by three years of supervised release after his release from custody. As conditions of supervision, Bridge will undergo testing and treatment for drug and/or alcohol abuse, and he will be subject to a search of his person and premises upon reasonable suspicion. No fine was imposed but the judge ordered that the defendant pay $100 in special assessments.

The case was investigated by the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office and the Department of Homeland Security Investigations. Assistant U.S. Attorney Gloria Bedwell prosecuted the case on behalf of the United States.

Outcome: Imprisonment 53 months; said sentence to run concurrently with any yet to be imposed state custody sentence; with recommendations to the BOP (1) imprisoned at an institution where a residential, comprehensive, substance abuse treatment program is available (2) state facility be designated to serve federal sentence; SRT 3 years, with special conditions (1) substance abuse testing & treatment (2) model search condition. SA $100.00.
