For former students at a school operated by the Diocese of Brooklyn claimed that they were sexually abused by Angelo Serrano, age 67, between 2003 and 2009.

The volunteer was later charged and pleaded guilty to first-degree sexual conduct charges and was sentenced to 15 years' in prison.

Angelo Serrano was never a priest. He was a volunteer, who taught religious education.

Outcome: Settled for $27.5 million.
