Description: Bangor, Maine criminal defense lawyer represented Defendant charged with conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute methamphetamine and possession of a firearm by an unlawful user of a controlled substance.

Between May and July 2018, Bruce McAlpine, ate 33, conspired with others to distribute and possess with the intent to distribute methamphetamine. A coconspirator was obtaining large quantities of methamphetamine from Florida and distributing to locations between Bangor and Houlton. McAlpine agreed to use his home as a storage location to assist in the methamphetamine distribution efforts. In July 2018, the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency conducted a search warrant of McAlpine’s residence and recovered more than 1,000 grams of methamphetamine and multiple firearms.

The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency investigated the case.

Outcome: Defendant was sentenced to 58 months in prison followed by three years of supervised release.
