Description: Idaho Falls, Idaho first-degree murder charge criminal defense lawyer represented Defendant, Brian Leigh Dripps, Sr., age 55, who was charged with killing and raping an 18-year-old woman in 1996, a crime for which another man was wrongfully convicted and incarcerated for 20 years.

The mother of Angie Dodge sought to have investigators take another look at the evidence, including DNA, evidence, which revealed that the man convicted of killing her did not, if fact, kill her.

Christopher Tapp spent a significant part of his life in prison for a crime he did not commit.

The Innocence Project agreed to take his case despite the fact that he confessed to the crime to get immunity from a possible death penalty charge.

Dripp's lawyer said he was high on drugs and alcohol.

Nearly a third of the 367 exonerations obtained by the Innocence Project have involved false confessions.

Outcome: Dripps was sentenced to life in prison.
