Mr. Shomaker specializes in the defense of medical malpractice cases with a special emphasis on obstetrical malpractice cases, and has been handling these types of cases for over 25 years. He is a frequent lecturer on the subject of malpractice in general and obstetrical malpractice in particular. Mr. Shomaker has spoken extensively on these subjects at seminars & hospital programs, has co-authored the course material "Medical Malpractice in Nebraska" and has received over 85 jury verdicts in his career. Mr. Shomaker is a fellow of the Nebraska State Bar Association, an honorary position, and has been asked to participate in other national honorary legal organizations. He is a member of the Volunteer Lawyer's Project, the Memorial, Courts, and Medical Legal Committees of the Omaha Bar Assoc., and practices in the Federal and State Courts. He is also a member of the National Arbitration Forum, selected as a mediator/arbitrator. His malpractice defense cases have taken him to courts in every geographical area in the State of Nebraska and Western Iowa. He has conducted a number of jury trials in smaller outlying communities in both states. Mr. Shomaker's community involvement includes leading roles in a number of musical productions at the Omaha Community Playhouse since 1978, volunteering for Habitat for Humanity, and weekly reading for Radio Talking Book, a service for the visually impaired. Additionally, he has conducted music ministry at his church for over 30 years.
