After Richard Reeve graduated from law school in 1977, he became an instructor at the University of Connecticut Law School Criminal Law Clinic. There he supervised law students and represented individuals charged in the Connecticut state courts. In 1981, he joined the Federal Defender's Office, and for more than sixteen years represented people facing the most serious felony charges. This included numerous trials in the District Courts and appeals before the Second Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court. In addition, he has participated as a teacher at criminal law seminars not only in Connecticut, but throughout the country, and is a recognized authority on the application of the Federal Sentencing Guidelines.
