Maria Scott

Maria Mancini Scott has been practicing employment law for fifteen years. Ms. Scott represents employees in all aspects of litigation and trial work in state and federal courts and at governmental agencies such as the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. "I take pride in striving to ensure that individuals can work in an environment free of discrimination, harassment and retaliation," Ms. Scott says. "When employees are subjected to discriminatory decisions by their employers, the financial and emotional consequences can be grave. We work hard to obtain compensatory justice for those who have been prohibited from enjoying success in the workplace due to the wrongful acts of their employer." Ms. Scott handles all aspects of plaintiffs employment law cases. She reviews and negotiates employment contracts and severance agreements; represents victims of employment discrimination based on race, gender, disability, religion, national origin, or veterans status; and brings actions for non-payment of wages or overtime. Ms. Scott also represents workers who seek workplace accommodations based on disabilities and those who have experienced sexual harassment in the workplace. Ms. Scott grew up in Needham, Massachusetts and received her bachelors degree from Tufts University. In 1995, Ms. Scott graduated cum laude from Suffolk University Law School, where she was the lead articles editor of the Suffolk University Law Review and received various awards for her written and oral advocacy skills. Ms. Scott started her career in employment law as an investigator at the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination, she has worked as a law clerk to the justices of the Massachusetts Superior Court, and is a member of the National Employment Lawyers Association.
