Additional Information: Floyd Gaines, shareholder in the Firm’s Birmingham office, concentrates his practice in the areas of class actions, product liability, employment law, education law, insurance law and general litigation. Mr. Gaines, who has served as a Deputy Attorney General for the State of Alabama, has litigated cases in virtually every county in Alabama and in each of the three Alabama Federal District Courts. He has also litigated cases in the Georgia and Mississippi state courts and participated in numerous oral arguments before the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals. Mr. Gaines’ commercial litigation experience includes representing national corporations in complex commercial litigation cases, including actions involving contract disputes, negligent and intentional misrepresentations, interference with contractual and business relations and other commercial disputes. His personal injury experience includes defending against claims of negligence, wrongful death, and other claims involving serious personal injury. Mr. Gaines’ product liability experience includes representing various industries in complex litigation in both federal and state courts in Alabama and throughout the Southeast. Mr. Gaines’ practice in the area of transportation litigation relates primarily to commercial motor vehicle transportation. His experience includes representing motor carriers in wrongful death actions arising out of catastrophic accidents, which include claims relating to DOT violations, negligent hiring, retention and supervision, negligent entrustment and failure to properly maintain equipment. Mr. Gaines has also represented motor carriers in contractual disputes and defended carriers in actions alleging retaliatory discharge actions filed by former employees.
