Dennis Corkery joined the Committee full time as a legal fellow in August 2012 after serving as a legal intern with Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Project during his 3L year. He was named a Staff Attorney in January 2013, and a Senior Staff Attorney in 2015.

During his 2L year, Mr. Corkery interned at the Servicemembers Legal Defense Network where he worked with LGBT members of the Armed Forces during the repeal process of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.” Mr. Corkery also held internships with United States District Judge Nathaniel Gorton in Boston as well as the Civil Division of the District of Columbia’s United States’ Attorney’s Office.

At The George Washington University Law School, Mr. Corkery was both a writing fellow for two years and the Chair of the Moot Court Board’s First Year Competition. Before law school, Mr. Corkery worked as a corporate paralegal with the firm Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP in New York City. As an undergraduate, Dennis helped found the University of Chicago’s chapter of the National Organization for Women and worked with the administration to create the University’s first sexual assault disciplinary policy.

Mr. Corkery served as an Adjunct Professorial Lecturer of Law for The George Washington Law School’s Introduction to Advocacy class for 1Ls in the spring semester of 2015. In 2015, he was named One of the Best LGBT Lawyers Under the Age of 40 by the National LGBT Bar Association.
