Additional Information: David Steuer is a civil litigator and trial lawyer at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, with primary emphasis in securities litigation, corporate governance matters, general commercial disputes, intellectual property matters, and employee/trade secrets issues. In addition, David serves as chair of the WSGR Foundation's board of directors and previously was a member of the firm's Poilcy Committee.

As a securities litigator, David has represented a host of well-known technology and life sciences companies, as well as many individual defendants. Many of these representations also involved proceedings initiated by securities exchanges or the Securities and Exchange Commission. He also has represented numerous clients in corporate control litigation, including proxy fights and mergers and acquisitions. In addition, David frequently represents and counsels clients on disclosure matters and duty of care and loyalty issues. He also has represented many clients in intellectual property disputes, including patent litigation matters and trademark and trade secret disputes. He has lectured widely on patent damages issues. Outside of a shareholder/corporate control context, David has litigated significant commercial matters.

He has an active trial practice and has tried cases in both the federal and state courts of California, as well as in the federal courts of Virginia, Delaware, and the District of Columbia. His most publicized trial was his pro bono representation of a class of inmates from California's Pelican Bay State Prison, alleging brutality and substandard medical and psychiatric care. After a three-month trial, the federal court granted sweeping relief to the plaintiff class. In another trial, in which David successfully obtained a defense verdict on a $100 million corporate opportunity claim, the trial judge remarked on the record, "Mr. Steuer, I thought your handling of the trial, your mastery of the documents, your questioning of the witnesses was as superb as I've seen."

In 1986, David became an associate at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, and was elected a partner of the firm in 1989. From 1982 to 1983, David clerked for the Honorable Herbert Y.C. Choy of the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Following his clerkship, he worked as an associate with Arnold & Porter in Washington, D.C.
