Mr. Burns has practiced law in Tallahassee since 1982, concentrating primarily in the area of personal injury, medical malpractice and wrongful death litigation, including such areas as automobile accidents, injuries from defective products, injuries from exposure to toxic substances, medical, dental, engineering and architectural malpractice, electrocution and wrongful deaths resulting from the same types of injuries. Mr. Burns has tried numerous cases. He has also handled appeals before the state appellate courts, including the Florida Supreme Court. Mr. Burns is also certified as a Circuit Civil Mediator by the Florida Supreme Court. Mr. Burns has taught several continuing legal education (CLE) seminars (and has been a contributing author to several CLE manuals for the seminars) dealing with the following subjects: Trying the Automobile Injury Case in Florida, Personal Injury Litigation Practice in Florida, Trial Advocacy in Florida and Insurance Litigation. Mr. Burns is a member of the American Bar Association and is a member of its Section on Torts and Insurance Practice, Automobile Liability Committee and Trial Techniques Committee. He is also a member of the Trial Lawyers Section of the Florida Bar as well as a member of the Academy of Florida Trial Lawyers and the Association of Trial Lawyers of America.
