Description: Second degree murder of Defendant's 51-year-old orthopedic surgeon husband in a domestic dispute in their South Tulsa home in 1993. Dr. Bell was shot once in the head with a 9mm. Defendant was convicted of second degree murder but her conviction was reversed because of errors in the instructions given to the jury.

Outcome: While maintaining her innocence, Defendant acquiesced in the Court's finding of guilt to the charge of manslaughter. The plea was in accordance with North Carolina v. Alford. Defendant was sentenced to 18 years in prison but that portion of the sentence which she had not already served was suspended and she was placed on unsupervised probation.
