Description: Serena Eickhoff sued Union Pacific Railroad and Stephen J. Slattery on hostile work environment and retaliation theories claiming that verbally harassed and accosted by her subordinates and supervisors in a pattern of sexually hostile language and behavior. She further alleged that Union Pacific and her supervisor retaliated by placing her on probation and, later, firing her without sufficient cause, without taking any action against her male co-workers. Plaintiff worked for Union Pacific for nine years.

Defendants denied wrongdoing.

Outcome: Plaintiff's verdict for $120,000 in compensatory damages and $1.27 million in punitive damages.
