Description: State of California charged Donnell Deshawn Stean, age 31, with homicide in conjunction with the shooting death of Rickey Bernard Howard, Jr., age 33, on November 3, 2012.

Defendant claimed self defense claiming that Howard attacked and hid him on the doorstep of Stean's apartment in Sacramento, California.

Howard had recently been paroled from prison after having been convicted of DUI four times in 12 years. Toxicology revealed that his blood alcohol level was 0.23.

A conflict between Stean and Howard arose over Stean's effort to clear people out of his apartment who he did not want there when he returned home a about 11 p.m.

Outcome: Defendant was found not guilty.
